4. Test effect of embedding profile in sRGB image file
The two Passport Colorchecker images on this page can be used to check how a web browser renders sRGB images with and
without an embedded sRGB profile. Both images include identical sRGB image data and both are tagged with
ColorSpace = sRGB in the EXIF metadata. But one image also includes embedded sRGB profile data, whereas the
other doesn't.
The first image doesn't include an embedded sRGB profile. This is typical of jpg images produced by digital
cameras which tag the images but often don't include the extra ICC profile data (presumably to save space and allow
more images to be stored on a memory card).
The second image is identical to the first but includes embedded ICC sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile data. It was
produced by opening the first image in Adobe Photoshop, adding some text and then using Save As... with the
Embed color profile : sRGB IEC61966-2.1 option selected.
Use the buttons underneath to swap between images. There should be absolutely no difference in the web browser's rendering
of the colours in these two images.
